Mr. Alec Emmerson is a distinguished international arbitrator with decades of experience in arbitration and dispute resolution. He practiced as a solicitor in London, Hong Kong, and Dubai, serving as a regional managing partner and legal consultant before establishing ADR Management Consultancies in 2018.

Mr. Alec has acted as counsel in hundreds of arbitrations across sectors such as international trade, shipping, energy, insurance, telecom, and infrastructure. Since 2008, he has been appointed in over 250 arbitrations across various jurisdictions under major arbitration rules, including ICC, LCIA, DIAC, SIAC, SCCA, and UNCITRAL.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a CEDR-accredited mediator, Alec serves on multiple arbitration panels, including AAA-ICDR, HKIAC, BCDR, and SCCA. He was CEO of the DIFC Arbitration Institute (2015-2021), a member of the LCIA Court (2015-2020), and held key roles in ICC-UAE and SCCA advisory committees.

Recognized as an Elite Arbitration Thought Leader, Alec has been ranked by GAR since 2009 and is platinum listed by Newton Arbitration. He frequently speaks and writes on arbitration, including authoring LexisNexis Users’ Notes for ADCCAC and DIFC-LCIA Rules.
